Students pursuing studies in UK can apply for UK student dependent Visa under the Tier 4 (General) student visa.
Who are dependants?
The following members can apply for UK dependant visa:
- Your spouse
- Your unmarried with whom you have been living with at least two years.
- Civil partner
- Your children must be 18 years old to apply. Unless they are already in UK with a visa your dependant
Requirements for family dependants:
Family members can only apply for dependants. If your course is of at least 12 months duration at postgraduate level, if you are a government sponsored student and your course is of at least six months duration.
Applying for a visa for your dependants:
You need to show enough money to support and stay in UK. The amount must be shown when applying for UK Tier 4 student visa is set out in points based system.
Your dependants must be planning to live with you and must not stay in UK longer than the period of visa. Family members who are not able to come to UK as your dependants can apply as visitors.
Dependants are applying from outside the UK:
Before they come to the UK as your dependant your dependants need to apply for “entry clearance”. Each applicant should fill separate application and pay fee.
If you want to apply for Tier 4 student visa your dependants will need to complete an application by following instructions. Once the account is registered you and your dependant need to follow options under select visa type.
If you are Tire 4 student’s visa your family members can apply within the UK as long as they have current visa for the UK which is not a visit visa.
